Applications for plein air artists are now available here for the 2027 festival. You can submit till September 30, 2026. The 60 juried finalists will be announced here on October 30, 2026.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Use the following buttons to pay your $95 application fee and then email us your two images and CV, as well as links to your website and social media (such as Instagram and Facebook) and your contact information.
Key Dates and Venue
Actual Festival Dates: May 14th to 16th 2027 & Venue is Devendorf Park in Carmel-by-the-Sea. California.
Painting Dates before the festival: May 10th to 13th - Where? anywhere in the surrounding area ie. Big Sur, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Carmel etc.
Artist Checkin Location on May 10th: Su Vecino Court on D0lores Between 5th and 6th Streets in Carmel by the Sea.

Your Application process & Payment Deadline: Has to be finalized by September 30th 2026, 11:59pm PST
Notification of Acceptance of 60 juried spots: October 30th, 2026 via email from CarmelArtFest@gmail.com
Time Commitment: Juried artists are encouraged to arrive by the morning of Monday May 10th 2027 for the orientation and official canvas stamping beginning at 8am in Su Vecino Courtyard in Carmel by the Sea, which marks the start of the competition painting period. Later arrivals need to be approved.
